Google Nexus 2016 and all we know about it

It’s no secret that year after year Google produces one or more new nexus device (Smartphone & Tablet), and as we are already in Q2 it’s time to let the loyal community know what the scenario is when it comes to the 2016 Nexus. There have been numerous rumors regarding the 2016 nexus devices, however not one has hinted the specs of the actual contender, the biggest lead we have is that LG won’t be taking part in this program anymore. This surely does leave the question, that who is Google looking to hand over the manufacturing part this time. Rumors have suggested that HTC has been chosen for this task and has signed a 3 year contract with Google, but it isn’t official yet so you might wanna keep that pinch of salt ready.

The idea behind the Nexus is to showcase Android in its purest form, away from the poking and prodding of manufacturer skins. Sources talking to The Information claimed that Google is looking to play a much greater role in the hardware design, as well as software, which would make the smartphone manufacturer more of a contractor than a partner (similar to what Apple does). As The Information rightly points out, some larger brands might not be completely satisfied with this idea as they already get very little from the Nexus partnership.

Nexus (2016): Release date & Specifications

The Nexus 7 (2013) was showcased early in June 2013 but that hasn’t been the case lately, almost every nexus device came out after September and we expect this to be the case when it comes to the 2016 Nexus. The device will be running Android N out of the box for sure, another things you can expect is no MicroSD card this time too. Apart from this we might see a great resemblance to HTC’s 10 if they finally get to make it, which will be a good thing considering HTC’s reputation of building some great looking devices in the past. Some reports have suggested the next Nexus devices will be smaller than the current offering with 5-inch and 5.5-inch models claimed compared to the 5.2-inch and 5.7-inch devices available now, reportedly they are going by the model numbers T50 and T55.
